Which VoIP Router Should I Get?

If you are interested in Voice over internet Protocol (VoIP) services and do not want to buy a new IP phone, you will need a piece of hardware called a router to change the analog signal from your traditional phone over to a digital signal carried over the internet.

A VoIP router blends the abilities of a high-speed internet router and an Analog Telephone adapter (ATA) so that you have both services in one piece of hardware. If you have DSL or high-speed cable internet service then you most likely you have connection through a modem or router. A VoIP router has features that are similar to the DSL modem the only difference is there is also a connection for the ATA port. Currently, there are two types of VoIP routers available.

The first type of router is one you purchase that comes connected with a particular service provider. If you subscribe to VoIP service over the internet, many providers offer the router free of charge. You may choose to purchase the router from a store. In this case, the router comes with a pre-selected provider and all the software you need to install and download onto your computer. This software is usually limited to a trial period at the end of which you will need to subscribe with a VoIP provider of your choosing. The important thing to remember is to purchase a router that is compatible with your provider. Research what you want before you buy.

The second type of router is more of a generic VoIP router. If you purchase this, you can configure it yourself to your web browser. They work with a majority of VoIP service providers. This is a better purchase if you are not sure whom you want as a VoIP provider. Choosing this router allows you the flexibility to change VoIP providers without having to change your hardware. A word of caution here, if your strengths do not consist of configuring computers, it will be important to ask for assistance from your VoIP service provider to help configure the hardware.

Regardless, of the type of router you purchase they generally come with firewall protection. Everyone knows that protection while using the internet is very important. The advantages of using a VoIP router are that you will save space by not having a lot of equipment to manage as well as money. Many times the cost of a VoIP router is less than what you are paying for an ATA or DSL router.

Wire EDM Machines: An Overview

While there are many brands and models of wire EDM machines available today, the three most prominent manufacturers are Elox, Japax, and Mitsubishi.

While each of these companies manufacture similar products, there will always be some varying features such as the User-interface with the CNC controller, the numbers of wires, be it a 4-axis or 5-axis Wire EDM machine, type of electrical current (AC vs. DC), and the gauges of wires that can be used. Another very big difference will be the size of the tank in which the manufacturing is accomplished.

Some examples of specifications for one model from each of these companies are:

Elox Fanuc Model M - (the Fanuc indicating the type of CNC controller that is a component of the Elox wire EDM) has an X-axis path of 20, a Y-axis path of 14, and a Z-axis path of 10

Japax wire EDM Model LDM-S - has a Y-axis path 13.8 and capable of machining a work piece with the measurements of 15.7 x 19.7 x 5.9 and a table that moves 7.9 x 13.8

Mitsubishi wire EDM Model DWC 110 H-1 - has an X-axis of 12, a Y-axis of 18, and a Z-axis of 10

Each of these models only represents one of many different models offered by their respective manufacturer. Variations will be observed from model to model with some differences including the distance that each axis wire can travel, the size of product that can be manufactured and the CNC controller.

When selecting a wire EDM machine, one must take into consideration the product that will be manufactured, the degrees of tolerance and variances that are allowed, how detailed the cut will be, and not least importantly, the funds available for purchasing the wire EDM.

While Elox, Japax and Mitsubishi are three prominent manufacturers of wire EDM machines, remember that there are also other manufactures of wire EDM machines.

Have You Got The Balls For The Job?

You are hitting the golf ball further than you ever have, or you will be if you are playing with the correct driver loft and golf ball for your swing. Frankly, this is a good thing. I want to see us all enjoying our golf more.

In 1995 on the PGA Tour, the average driving distance was 265 yards, with big hitters like john Daly still not averaging past 300 yards. Now the Tour average is 290 yards and the big hitters are topping 320 yards on AVERAGE.

While the big headed, high MOI, hot COR 460cc geometric Drivers grab all the attention, the golf ball and the white-coated engineers concerned with ball flight, launch angles and spin rates dont seem to get enough publicity.

But PGA Tour stats are one thing. Think about your game. Do you boom the driver further today than you did in 1997 or 2000? Even several years older, you should.

And, given that you dont have to buy new equipment to achieve some of the improvements, and just thinking about your golf ball offers you the chance of extra yards, shorter approach shots and more fun; I cant help thinking that I should be talking to more of you about your golf balls.

Standing on the tee this weekend, look at your golf ball and think about it.

The Srixon AD333 was designed with a very specific dimple layout to improve aerodynamics and increase the hang time of the golf ball.
